About Le Marche

Le Marche is a very beautiful and yet unspoilt region of Italy which has long been overlooked by both Italians and the outside world. However this is changing and many outsiders are now finding that Le Marche it not just a great place to visit for holidays but also to start a new life by moving to the region permanently.
The numerous beautiful small towns and villages of Le Marche are overflowing with ancient churches and historical buildings and the countryside is covered with rows of vines and olive groves.

Many historic buildings around the region still have works of art by painters such as Carlo Crivelli, Piero della Francesca and Raphael on display today.
There are also the world famous opera attractions that take place at Pesaro and Macerata each year, the Sferisterio Arena at Macerata being very beautiful and in the open air.

The Apennine Mountains to the west of the region, offer a wide range of walks and other outdoor pursuits and the world famous Sibillini National park created in 1933 is a must for all lovers of the outdoors. The protected area has played a role in helping to re-establish a large population of wild boar, as well as the reappearance of brown bears, golden eagles and the lynx.

The Sibillini Mountains offer some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of Italy and still remains off the usual tourist trails. The area remains almost deserted all year round apart from the odd winter skiers and summer rambler.

Coastal resorts such as Portonovo, Senigallia, Civitanova, Porto san Giorgio and Grottamare are still unspoilt and in the summer there are numerous beach restaurants and bars. Many of the resorts have long sandy beaches and are protected by small rocky breakwaters that allow safe swimming for all the family.
